Frequently asked questions

Q: Should I use my anti-glaucoma drops on the day of my appointment?

A: Absolutely! Use all the drops as directed. We are interested in the treated intraocular pressure IOP of your eyes.

-

Q: Should I use my anti-glaucoma drops on the day of my surgery?

A: Use the additional drops that were prescribed specifically for the planned surgery and any regular anti-glaucoma drops in the operative eye unless the doctor has advised you not to. Any prescribed drops for the other eye should continue uninterrupted. Do not use acetazolamide or methazolamide tablets on the day of surgery unless the doctor has specifically advised you to do so.

-

Q: Why should I bring my drops if you have them on record?

A: Always bring your drops when you attend the clinic. Often we need to adjust the dose, add or discontinue drops. The name of the drops can be difficult to remember or different drop names may sound similar.

-

Q: I am being repeatedly asked the same questions or questions that do not make sense, why?

A: We listen and collect all the information you provide. Often doctor will ask you again to confirm certain aspects or subtle details that play a crucial role in understanding your eye condition. Some systemic symptoms or conditions are strangely linked to your eyes.

-

Q: Why my appointment is not on time?

A: Apologies in advance. We are aware when we are not running on time. We manage very complex ophthalmic problems that require additional time to deal with. We deal with emergencies and there are instances where the doctor needs to leave the clinic to perform urgent surgery. If you were in that situation we would prioritize you too. Please bring your regular medications and consider bringing entertainment, refreshments, snacks. Have a plan to manage parking if you need to extend.
